Acupressure & Breathwork

This video combines Acupressure with breathing. Specifically, massaging the webbing between the thumb and the index finger, alternating between hands. Acupressure is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that may provide temporary relief from stress and/or anxiety. There's limited research about the exact science behind Acupressure and relief, however in some of the studies conducted, there has been a relationship between Acupressure helping to reduce anxiety and stress.

I've found this technique useful with my client's because it allows for a few things to happen:

1. A refocusing from distressing thoughts to attention directed at this Acupressure point.

2. A reduction in intensity of the physical, mental, emotional and psychological response that is being experienced in the moment (For example, overwhelming anger is slowed down by using this strategy in session). Now this is not a technique to "cure" the distress, but rather to slide down the intensity of what we're experiencing, so then we can figure out what we need to do with the feelings or symptoms that are arising.
